Detta Fane
Detta is interested in the metamorphic qualities of the materials she uses as they rust and crystallise into the hardened surface skin which holds the form together.
She uses various materials such as steel wire and liquid clay to create these towers.
Developing the work has led to lengthening the structures by stretching their skeletal frames and extending their translucent skins.
The architectural presence becomes their purpose linking them to the figurative pylons, cranes and bridges that support, carry and protect.
