Klari Reis
Klari Reis produces beautiful richly coloured abstract paintings using an unusual medium called epoxy polymer, a synthetic plastic derived from crude oil that is more commonly used to water seal boats. This intriguing plastic she pours over the aluminium base that she uses as a canvas to create a highly plasticized and satisfyingly touchable smooth colourful surface.
Her subject matter is the complex workings of the internal body examined on a microscopic scale. Reis is fascinated by bioengineering and her work aims to interpret the body’s responses to bio-technology through examining and creating her own ideas about the functions, colours, shapes and sizes of what is going on beneath the surface of the skin.
The finished works are super modern and very tactile polished pieces that need to be seen in real life to be fully appreciated.
